Heaven’s 11 Follow-up

We just finished a sermon series called “Heaven’s Eleven”.  The series covered eleven key relationships we need in our lives in order to be on a “Mission to Multiply”.  The series impacted people pretty significantly.  So much so that several people asked if they could have a recap of the series, and some even thought it might be a good thing to review the eleven at an upcoming Life Group meeting.
In case you are interested in either, here you go:

Who’s Your Nathan (2 Samuel 12:1-10)?  The question asker, the truth teller, the welcome intruder, the one who says, “You’re the man!”

Who’s Your Jonathan (1 Samuel 20: 1-16)?  A true friend. One who is loyal when you make it hard to be loyal. One that walks with you in all seasons.

Who’s Your Jethro (Exodus 4:1-18 / Exodus 18:14-24)?  The butt-kicker. Someone who will get in your face when you are afraid to do what God is calling you to. Someone who will notice the issues in your life and challenge you to change.

Who’s Your Timothy (2 Timothy 3:10-11)?  The protégé, apprentice. Someone who will carry on your legacy. Someone to multiply your life into.

Who’s Your Barnabas (Acts 4:36,37; Acts 9:26,27; Acts 11:22-26)?  The one who will vouch for your character. Someone who seeks you out to join in ministry.

Who’s Your Peter or Paul(Yoda)?  The one you are a disciple to. Who do you attach yourself to that is a little further down the journey? Depending on the season of life you may need a Peter or a Paul. Peter was intellectually and culturally slow but inter-personally quick and rich. Paul was the opposite.

Who’s Your Deborah(Judges 4:6-9,14)?  A “back-coverer” – because you’re going to get it in the back. Someone who covers you with prayer from a distance.

Who’s Your Rhoda (Acts 12: 11-16)?  The one who keeps you dreaming and facing fears. They keep you small and amazed at how big God is. “Children First” was a Jesus motto – far from popular or normal.

Who’s Your Ordinary Simon (Luke 5:1-11)?  The one who is ready to move forward. Someone who is waiting to be asked “Come, follow me”.

Who’s Your Zacchaeus(Luke 19:1-9)?  The marginalized. Zacks are “up a tree”; not conformers; are rarely in the church but “out there”.  Jesus was a “friend” to the marginalized. Do any misfits, strays, cast-offs have your email or cell number?

FYI, a printer-friendly version is available on the Resources page.
