Don’t break the ice!

Here is a reminder to our Life Group leaders: Always, always, always include an icebreaker when your Group meets.  Why?  They help draw people in from their busy weeks, provide a easy option for newcomers, and are helpful in getting the no-quite-so-willing-to-talk to open up.  They can be a light-hearted, funny way to get the meeting started, or can serve as a great transition from the “secular” to the “sacred”.

Do you need a fresh set of icebreaker ideas?  Try these Discussion Starters.

Having said that, here is a “top-ten” list of bad icebreakers I found on another small group blog…VERY funny!

  • Which famous criminal would you say you are most like, and why?
  • What is your deepest, darkest, secret?
  • If you were lead pastor of our church, which staff member would you fire first?
  • What is your biggest pet peeve — of people in this small group?
  • What is your favorite white — lie to tell for why you are skipping small group?
  • What is your top 10 list of things that annoy you about our church?
  • Which couple in this group do you most wish would go join a Parenting Group at church?
  • Share one (only one please) of your spouse’s secrets that they don’t want shared, but you know would get a great laugh from this group?
  • What’s the worst snack you’ve ever eaten — at this small group?
  • In the next election, who do you think everyone in this group needs to vote for (if they claim to be real Christians)?

love the list of bad small group questions. I think I have had to answer some of those in small groups and worse yet, I think I have asked some of them as well.
