Did you know that Jesus told us that there is only ONE thing we should be concerned about? Only ONE thing we should really fret over? He said that if we worry and become preoccupied about this ONE thing, everything else will fall into place!
What is that ONE thing?
As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.”
But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” – Luke 10:38-41
What is it that Mary had discovered? That the only thing really worth doing is sitting at the feet of Christ. The only thing we really need to worry about is how to get into His presence and listen. We can show our love for Him only if we obey Him, and we can only obey Him if we listen to what He says.
Just like Martha, I too often distract myself working to please God. He certainly wants me to work hard, but He FIRST wants me to meet with Him. If I will concern myself with that FIRST, everything else will fall into place and nothing else will concern me!
