“It’s all about me”. It is a phrase that I used a lot when I was at Primary Solutions. It started out as a gentle reminder for us all to focus our attention on our co-workers and our clients instead of ourselves.
Page 40 in the Outflow book describes a life that sucks. Sucks in the sense that I start making everything about “me”. I naturally want people to serve me, listen to me, love me and share with me. We all know people like this, and sometimes we are people like this. When everything becomes about ourselves, we loose sight of the bigger picture and we become stagnant, ugly people.
Now imagine life that flowed outward instead of inward!
Imagine a life where we spent all of our time honestly wondering how we could better serve God and others. Image a life spent listening to God and others. Image a life in which we spent more time worrying about how we could express our love to God and others. And just try to imagine a life where we couldn’t wait to share our “stuff” with everyone!
Can you image a family that looked like that? A business? A neighborhood? A Church? You?
Do you spent most of your time sucking everything and everyone toward you, or letting yourself flow outward toward others?
What would change if we didn’t suck so much? Seriously.
