Two Extremes

overwhelmedI am faced with an extremely busy week this week.  I won’t bother with the details, but it is busy enough for me to be extremely anxious about it.  It is busy enough for me to be extremely tired throughout it.  It is busy enough for me to be overwhelmed by it.

Thank God (literally) that I read Psalm 27 this morning.  It highlights another list of extremes that I can choose for this week.

  • I can choose to be unafraid and confident (2-3).
  • I can choose to delight in the Lord’s perfections (4).
  • I can choose to serve Him with shouts of joy (6).
  • I can choose to pray (7).
  • I can choose to go to Him (8).
  • I can choose to wait patiently for the Lord (14).
  • I can choose to be brave and courageous (14).

I DO have a choice.  A choice to be extremely overwhelmed or to be extremely focused on God.

For the despondent, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast. Proverbs 15:15 (NLT)
