The Twilight Zone

On the the windowsill in our kitchen, Michele has a set of index cards with verses written on them.  They are there so that the verse can always be visible for the person (I’ll admit, usually her) that is doing dishes.  She’ll leave one up for a few days and then flip to the next one.  The one she has up there now is one of my favorite in all the Bible:

Do everything without complaining and arguing – Philippians 2:14 (NLT)

Can you imagine it?  Can you imagine what the world would be like if we didn’t complain and argue?  Can you imagine your family life without any complaining or arguing?  Can you imagine if we actually removed our pride and arrogance?  Can you image if we really put other’s interests ahead of our own?  Can you imagine if we truly loved God and loved others?

It is almost unimaginable.  It would almost be like the Twilight Zone (sorry, I had to do it).

But there is nothing we can do to make our imagination a reality here, right?  Wrong.  Check out Paul’s exhortation to the church in Rome:

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. – Romans 12:18 (NIV)

Here is a challenge for you and I today.  Despite what anyone else says or does, let’s choose NOT to argue or complain about it.  At all.  Even a little.

Imagine a world like that!
