Check out the back cover from a book I just started reading:
The spiritual masterpiece exposes the roadblocks that keep us from fully knowing God, reveals our responsibility of the pursuit, and ultimately leads us into the very presence of God Himself.
This book has been on my shelf for a long time. It is a short book (121 pages) with relatively few words on each page. The author is A.W. Tozer, one of my favorite Christian authors. This one is called “The Pursuit of God” and was written in 1948. The subtitle is “The Human Thirst for the Divine”.
I’m planning on reading a chapter a day (there are 10) and blogging on anything from the chapter that struck me. Today was the introduction. In it, Tozer writes,
The Bible is not an end in itself, but a means to bring men to an intimate and satisfying knowledge of God, that they may enter into Him, that they may delight in His presence, may taste and know the inner sweetness of the very God Himself in the core and center of their hearts.
That rings so true with our philosophy of discipleship at Grace Point, and genuinely reflects the attitude with which we approach Grace Point University. The University exists to help transform the minds of the members and attenders of Grace Point. But those transformed minds, though important, are not the ultimate goal. Though God wants our minds to be transformed, He is not the least bit content stopping there.
God is after our heart, He is interested in transforming the very nature of who we are, our person. He is interested in molding us more and more into the likeness of Christ, allowing us to love Him with all our heart, soul and mind.
That is what I want! It truly is. How about you? I’d invite you to join me on a journey through this book. If you know of anyone else that might benefit from such a journey, invite them to tag along. They can subscribe up in the right-hand corner of the blog.
