The Pursuit of God: The Universal Presence

RightHere Right Now God is here.

He was here just a minute ago, is here as I type this and will be here when I’m done.  God is here.  It is such a simple thing that it almost seems silly to state it.  But in this chapter of The Pursuit of God, Tozer does a masterful job of reminding the reader that part of why we fail to find God is that we fail to look for Him.  And the reason we fail to look for Him is that we forget that He is here!  On the other hand:

If we cooperate with Him in loving obedience, God will manifest Himself to us, and that manifestation will be the difference between a nominal Christian life and a life radiant with the light of his face.

If we would only cooperate.  If we would only obey.  I think we would cooperate and obey if we truly, truly believe He was right beside us and inside us all the time.  In the mundane, everyday parts of life.  Too many Christians wait to see and hear from God in Christian experiences and events.  God is present in Church on Sunday and at the weekend conference, yes.  But He is every bit as present at the dinner table and in the line of traffic!

To find God, we must recognize that He really is here.  We will not find what we do not expect to see!

Let any man turn to God in earnest, let him begin to exercise himself to godliness, let him seek to develop his powers of spiritual receptivity by trust and obedience and humility, and the results will exceed anything he may have hoped in his leaner and weaker days.

AMEN!
