I had a lot of people ask me about the book I mentioned Sunday at church. The name of the book is “Crazy Love”, and the author is Francis Chan. Here is a blurb on it:
The God of the universe is crazy about you! His love is the most powerful thing in the world and He wants to give it to you, so you can live for Him. If you have made a commitment to follow Christ, then read Crazy Love to be reminded and challenged in your walk.
I also had some questions about the book that I will try to answer here:
- Is it hard to read? I would call it a very easy-to-read book due to its approachable language and style. Though the picture it paints of God and His desired relationship with us is beautiful, it is also a hard-to-read book because it forces you to look inside your heart and evaluate your own love affair with Him.
- Will it make me feel guilty? Oh, in one sense I suppose it will. When we get a picture of God’s love for us and are reminded of what He’d like in return from us, it can make us feel guilty. But I would encourage you not to approach it that way. Don’t let it discourage you, but let it fill you with a Holy discontentedness. Ask Him to make you discontent with anything other than a real, vibrant relationship!
- It sounds like a good book, but I’m really not a reader…any other options? After reading this book, I’m really considering adding a “Rooted in a Crazy Love for God” to our Grace Point University class roster. If you are interested, keep your eye on the website for more information!
Have a blessed day, and try to remember that God really is crazy about you. He will transform your heart from the inside out if you will let Him.

Thanks for the encouragement Mona…sometimes God sends an encouraging word my way at just the right time. Thanks for being His voice today.
Oh, and thanks for the link…I might even be able to play that song on my guitar!

Great book. Francis Chan is an extremely gifted communicator of God’s truth. I was priviledge to see him speak at a youth conference a few years back and listen to his Sunday morning messages via iTunes. Good stuff.
His new book, Forgotten God, just came out.

Tom, though I know you may feel tired and somewhat dry in your spiritual walk, God is on fire through you!
I truly enjoyed what you had to say yesterday and am on my way to get the book!
I read some of your previous posts, and I really loved the one about your dog. Someone just sent this to me and I thought you would enjoy it.

Thank you so much for all that you and Michele do to help our church grow into spiritual servants.
Blessings,
