Axiom

axiom I’ve read a lot of books in my day.  Some were awful, others were great.  Some I would recommend reading, others I would recommend avoiding.  Some were packed full of Godly wisdom, others jammed with human folly.  Right now, I’m enjoying a book that is filled with a great combination of the wisdom in Scripture and the wisdom of human experience (I’m fully convinced, by the way, that both are to be used to guide our time and efforts on earth).

It is a book called Axiom, written by Bill Hybels.  It isn’t the kind of book you sit down and read all at once.  It is “a truckload of weighty wisdom in 76 portable proverbs”.  Each chapter is a condensed packet of thoughts from Bill’s long experience in ministry combined with the wisdom found in Scripture.  Each chapter is a stand-alone “nugget” for the day…something to chew on and consider.  I’ve been reading one chapter a day as I wait for my laptop to boot up (which takes about 5 minutes).

I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is leading or co-leading anything.  Whether it is a family, a team, a business, a Life Group, a ministry or a Church, these chapters will have something to say to anyone in leadership.
