God desires our thanksgiving and praise, much as a father desires it from his children. God demands our thanksgiving and praise, because to offer it to anyone else would be giving credit where it isn’t due. God deserves our thanksgiving and praise, because all good things really do come from Him.
But though He desires it, demands it and deserves it, wouldn’t it be better to give a voluntarily offering of praise to Him? A spontaneous, freewill offering of praise and thanksgiving to Him?
I will sacrifice a voluntary offering to you; I will praise your name, O Lord, for it is good. Psalms 54:6 (NLT)
If you haven’t done so in a while, take a few minutes today and thank Him for all he has done for you and your family. Thank Him for who He is. Thank Him for His Son and His sacrifice for you. As the Psalm says…it is good to offer up your praise voluntarily!
